The day started with a six mile recce around North Charleston which is a strip town of 1940s style shops restaurants and bars, actually all you need.
I recovered with a burger and a beer at one of Billy's franchise restaurants and then had to go over to Walmart to buy a new suitcase - the old one had a blow out on one of the wheels.
I went back to North Charleston on the local bus and dined at The Barbeque Joint, followed by a bar crawl down the strip, then the bus back to my motel.
The Mill, a sleezy, smokey dive but good music |
North Charleston at night |
I have really enjoyed the last two days, downtown Charleston is OK and worth a walk around but up here in North Charleston it is a different world, here are the real people just getting on with their lives and it has been an eye opener in more ways than one. I will tell you all about it when I get home.
